Body-for-LIFE

I’ll admit it: I’m an exercise fiend, so it’s quite fitting that when I was asked to get involved in the BFL program I was actually working out. It was a perfect pairing right from the start.

Body-for-LIFE is an intense exercise and nutrition program based on the principle that a person is more likely to stick with a diet and workout if he or she sees results quickly. Founded by Bill Phillips, the BFL theory is all about balance mixed with hard work. The workout regimen involves training with weights for 45 minutes three days a week, then alternating with aerobic exercise for at least 20 minutes three days a week. The diet involves eating six small meals each day for six days a week from a list of healthy, balanced foods. Grazing, not gorging, is the key. On the seventh day however, the participant is free to eat anything they want and can take a day off from workouts. This is pretty much my life in a nutshell.

I was approached to work for Cindy Crawford, who at the time was endorsing this fitness program.  As her personal chef I cooked all of her meals based on the BFL ideology. I continued to work with EAS and the BFL program as a food consultant, speaking at their expo where I also performed cooking demonstrations, and as a contributor to their website where my recipes can be found.
